About Platt Outfitters

Two things stand out about Platt Outfitters:

They operate on the original family homestead, which was founded in 1886.
They are full time outfitters. This IS their day job!

Ron Platt has been guiding and outfitting since he was 10 years old. Except for military service and college, he has lived here his entire life.

Ron has a grand slam of North American sheep among his own personal trophies. He is past-president of the Wyoming Outfitters and Guides Association and is currently on the governing board of the Wyoming State Board of Outfitters and Professional Guides.

Ron has hunted across the continental United States, Alaska, Canada and Africa. He or his clients have numerous Boone and Crocket, Safari Club and Pope and Young records.

Clients have included Grits Gresham (outdoor journalist), Slim Pickens (actor), Randy Myers (relief pitcher for the New York Mets), Jim Carmichael (author), Bill Jordan (Realtree Camouflage founder) and National Geographic. Clients have come from all over the world as well as hard-working Americans who save and plan for a western trip of a lifetime.

Platt Outfitters wouldn't be what it is without Ron's wife and partner, Mayvon. An accomplished hunter in her own right, Mayvon has taught "Women In The Wilderness" classes, cooks and ensures all the lodge and camp logistics are taken care of. She is a graduate of the International Tour Managment Institute in San Francisco and Weaver State University.

Platt Outfiters operates in southeast Wyoming, near the town of Encampment. The rugged Sierra Madre mountains is our back yard, and the Snowy Range of the Medicine Bow National Forest is across the road. We operate both in Wyoming and Colorado.

Our emphasis going forward is antelope and bear hunting, providing incredible fishing experiences from their secluded but comfortable cabin, photo safaris and family vacations.
